On April 6, 2025, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) state ended the use of Z codes modifiers for State-funded NC Core Individual Placement and Support – Supported Employment (IPS-SE) services. This Provider Alert is to ensure Partners providers have knowledge of, and understand, the change.
What is happening?
The service codes and billing structure has changed for members receiving State-funded NC Core IPS-SE, effective April 7, 2025. State NC Core IPS-SE service code is changing from H2023 Z1 – Z9 to H2023. H2023 Z1 – Z9 modifiers ended April 6, 2025.
Prior authorization is not required for State-funded NC Core IPS-SE.
What should providers do?
Providers should access and review the complete document which includes:
- A chart with the service name, code and documents required
- An explanation of service limits for milestones
- Changes for submitting claims
