Changes to Planned Restrictive Intervention Process

Issued: May 19, 2025

Effective June 1, 2025, Partners Health Management is implementing a more structured process for Planned Restrictive Intervention (PRI).

What does this mean for providers?

This means that providers must have a Planned Restrictive Intervention Plan (PRIP) in place for members who experience four or more restrictive interventions (RI) within 30 days, as required by 10A NCAC 27E.0104. All restrictive interventions will be tracked in the Partners’ SharePoint-based RI tracking system.

Partners has developed a template to help guide providers in creating a plan for members. If you want to use the template to create your plan, please contact the Consumer Rights Officer at 704-884-2620 or IRIS@PartnersBHM.org

What do providers need to do?

Initial Steps in the PRI Process:

  • Providers should continue to report restrictive interventions in the state’s Incident Response Improvement System (IRIS). Out-of-state providers can fax or email reports to 704-884-2620 or IRIS@PartnersBHM.org.
  • Providers should collaborate with the treatment team to develop PRIPs for members requiring a plan.
  • Providers should review PRIPs monthly to ensure they remain in compliance.
  • Providers should contact the Partners Consumer Rights Officer team at IRIS@PartnersBHM.org if they need guidance in the PRIP process.

Next Steps:

  • Providers should review the PRIP Q&A document. You may request this by emailing iris@partnersbhm.org.
  • Providers should share questions and feedback with the Consumer Rights Officer team to ensure a smooth transition. You can contact the Consumer Rights Officer team at 704-884-2620 or IRIS@PartnersBHM.org.
  • Providers should begin preparing internal documentation and procedures to align with this updated process.

Providers should watch for training sessions and updates as Partners moves toward full implementation on June 1.
